Acceptable Use Policy

Effective 2 October 2026 · Last updated 14 October 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") sets out the rules that apply to everyone who uses Amana, the matrimonial platform operated by Digital Intentions Ltd ("Amana," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using Amana in any way, you agree to follow this Policy. It works alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

Amana exists to help Muslims find a spouse through a considered, safety-conscious process. This Policy exists to protect that purpose and the people who trust us with it.

1. Who can use Amana

  • You must be at least 18 years old. We verify date of birth at signup and reject applications from anyone who does not meet this requirement.
  • You must be using Amana for its intended purpose: to seek marriage. Amana is not a casual dating, hookup, or social networking service, and using it as one is a breach of this Policy.
  • You must provide accurate information about yourself, including your name, date of birth, and marital status. Creating a profile using a false identity, someone else's photos, or fabricated details is prohibited.
  • You may hold only one active account.

2. Verification and the guardian (wali) system

  • Every member must complete identity verification (a government-issued ID check with a live selfie) before they can message or call other members, as part of keeping the platform trustworthy. The name, date of birth and sex on your profile are taken from your ID and locked once it is verified. A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) basic criminal record check and our other verification checks are optional.
  • Attempting to circumvent, falsify, or manipulate any verification process — including submitting someone else's documents, an altered document, or a document that does not belong to you — is a serious breach of this Policy and may result in immediate account termination and, where appropriate, a report to relevant authorities.
  • Female members may choose to involve a guardian (wali) in their account, consistent with Islamic marriage practices. Anyone acting as a guardian on the platform must do so honestly and in the genuine interest of the member they represent. Misusing guardian access — including impersonating a guardian, or a guardian acting without the member's knowledge or consent — is prohibited.

3. Conduct we do not allow

You must not use Amana to:

  • Harass, threaten, demean, stalk, or abuse another member, in messages, profile content, or any other interaction.
  • Send unsolicited sexual, explicit, or inappropriate content, or pressure another member for such content.
  • Post or share hate speech, or content that attacks or demeans people on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, disability, gender, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Promote or solicit anything illegal, including but not limited to drugs, weapons, or illegal services.
  • Use the platform for commercial purposes, including advertising, soliciting business, recruiting for a third-party service, or promoting another app or website.
  • Attempt to defraud, scam, or financially exploit another member, including so-called "romance scam" behaviour — asking another member for money, gifts, financial details, or any form of payment.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your identity, age, marital status, or intentions.
  • Share another member's personal information (including screenshots of conversations, photos, or contact details) outside the platform without their consent.
  • Attempt to bypass, disable, reverse-engineer, or interfere with Amana's security, verification, moderation, or payment systems.
  • Create multiple accounts, including to evade a suspension or ban.
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access or interact with Amana.
  • Upload content you do not have the right to use, or that infringes someone else's intellectual property.
  • Post photos that are not genuinely of you, are sexually explicit, or are otherwise inappropriate for a platform focused on marriage-intent introductions.
  • Include sexually explicit content anywhere on your profile, including photos, text, audio or video.
  • Create, share, request or link to child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any sexual content involving a person under 18, or otherwise sexually exploit or abuse a child in any way. We report this to the police and other relevant authorities.
  • Commit, threaten, encourage or glorify sexual violence, or share, threaten to share or ask for sexual or intimate images or recordings of anyone without their consent.
  • Use Amana for human trafficking or sexual exploitation, including forced or coerced marriage, or to recruit, transport, control or exploit any person, or to aid, abet or encourage any of these.

4. Payments and subscriptions

  • Subscription payments must be made honestly and through the payment methods we support. Attempting to defraud our payment systems, or to obtain paid features without legitimate payment, is prohibited.
  • Abusing the chargeback or refund process in bad faith is a breach of this Policy.

5. Reporting and enforcement

  • Members can report profiles, messages, or behaviour that breach this Policy through the in-app reporting feature.
  • Our trust and safety team reviews reports and may take action including warnings, temporary restrictions, permanent suspension, or account termination, depending on the severity of the breach. We operate a strikes-based process for repeated or escalating issues — see our Trust & Safety Policy.
  • We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or terminate an account at our discretion where we reasonably believe this Policy has been breached, without prior notice where the situation requires it (for example, a safety risk to another member).
  • Serious breaches — including fraud, child safety concerns, or content suggesting a credible risk of harm to another person — may be reported to the police or other relevant authorities. Our approach to requests from law enforcement is set out on our Law enforcement requests page.

6. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our platform, our legal obligations, or how we keep our community safe. We will post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date.
