Child safety standards

Amana is a platform for adults seeking marriage. This page sets out, specifically, how we keep it that way and what we do if that is ever tested.

Our position

Amana has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in any form. This applies to every part of the platform — profiles, photographs, messages, voice and video notes, and guardian-managed accounts — and to every person who uses it, including guardians, walis and chaperones acting on someone else's behalf.

How we keep minors off the platform

Every profile on Amana — whether created directly by the member or by a guardian on their behalf — requires a date of birth at signup. The system checks this automatically and rejects the application outright if the person is under 18; this applies equally to the member being represented and to the guardian creating the profile. There is no path through onboarding that skips this check.

Our published community guidelines state plainly that Amana is strictly for adults aged 18 and over, and that contacting a minor — or being one — is treated as one of the most serious breaches on the platform, carrying immediate suspension.

Detection and moderation

Text messages and profile photographs are automatically checked for abusive and harmful content, including content that would indicate a child safety concern. An automated flag can only ever create a report for a human moderator to review — it cannot warn, restrict, suspend or delete an account by itself. Every enforcement decision on Amana is made by a person, and every report — automated or member-submitted — is reviewed against the account's full history before any action is taken. The full detail of how this works is set out in our trust & safety policy.

Reporting a concern

Any member can report another member or a specific conversation directly from within the app, at any time, without needing to be certain or to have been personally affected. Reports are treated as safety-critical and reviewed as a priority when they involve a suspected child safety concern.

If you are not an Amana member, or need to reach us outside the app, contact [email protected]. This is our designated point of contact for anything relating to child sexual abuse material (CSAM) prevention and compliance, and it is monitored by someone able to act on it.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact the police on 999 (or the emergency number for your country) before contacting us. Amana is not an emergency service.

What happens when we find something

Where we identify content or behaviour that may constitute child sexual abuse material or the exploitation of a minor, the account is suspended immediately, the material is removed from anywhere it is visible to other members, and the relevant records are preserved rather than deleted. We report to the appropriate law enforcement and regulatory authorities — in the UK, this includes the National Crime Agency via the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) — and cooperate fully with any resulting investigation.

Scope

Amana does not knowingly permit anyone under 18 to hold an account, and the platform is not designed, marketed or intended for use by minors. These standards apply regardless of that, because a platform's defences matter most in the case it was not designed to expect.
